1985 Fender Japan Thinline Telecaster TN-70EX
1985 Fender Japan ’69 Thinline Telecaster Reissue in fantastic original condition with upgraded pickups.
Built to a very high quality by Fender Japan these early guitars were built during a time of limited production in the US due to the management buy out of Fender from CBS. Highly regarded, the Fender Japan production began after the era of Japanese ‘Lawsuit’ guitars and are still in production and equally popular today.
Like the original late sixties guitars these are based upon they feature a heavily chambered Mahogany body with bass side F hole. Maple Neck with late sixties style logo, 7.25 radius and 21 vintage frets. The classic Telecaster electronics with two pickups, a 3 way switch and global volume and tone control are all mounted to an enlarged pearloid Scratchplate. The serial number branded Bridge has 3 steel saddles. Tuners are the correct Gotoh variety.
This Thinline sounds great, still unmistakably Tele but with a softer airier sound. The perfect option for the Tele player looking for an alternative tone from the familiar feeling Telecaster formula or a player looking for a lighter guitar to a solid body Telecaster.
Pickups have been upgraded with a set of aftermarket handwound Telecaster pickups with the originals retained in the case. The switch tip is a Strat type. Condition is excellent for a played instrument with only the odd knock. Frets show a small amount of wear as is to be expected but the guitar plays well and the frets have plenty height.
