Description

In collaboration with Ace from UK alt-rock band Skunk Anansie, Vintage 'n' Rare Guitars are proud to offer for sale some of the iconic instruments used throughout his career.

Formed in 1994, Skunk Anansie have become one of the biggest rock bands in Europe with over 6 million physical sales and over 25 million Spotify streams per year not to mention the numerous awards acquired along the way. Their blend of alternative rock, punk, and metal, with powerful vocals and socially conscious lyrics gained them significant attention from the outset with the release of their debut album "Paranoid & Sunburnt" in 1995 followed by "Stoosh" a year later. Skunk Anansie continued to evolve their sound with subsequent albums "Post Orgasmic Chill" (1999), "Wonderlustre" (2010), and "Anarchytecture" (2016), and throughout their career they have been praised for their dynamic live performances and outspoken stance on issues like politics, sexuality, and racism. Guitarist, songwriter and founder member Ace played a crucial role in shaping the band's distinctive sound - his heavy riffs, melodic hooks, and dynamic solos contributing to the band's energetic and impactful music.

During their career Skunk Anansie have shared stages with with such bands as Metallica, Rammstein, Muse, U2, The Rod Hot Chilli Peppers, Lenny Kravitz, Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, David Bowie and the Sex Pistols. They continue to play sell out shows and release new music under their own independent label. This longevity and influence on the rock scene has cemented their status as one of the most iconic and enduring bands in British rock history. Coinciding with their 30th anniversary Ace has partnered with Vintage 'n' Rare Guitars to offer for sale some of the iconic instruments he used during his career.

One of the most recognisable guitars owned and played by Ace since 1994 is his number 1 Les Paul Custom he bought the day Skunk Anansie signed their first record deal.

"This was played on all Skunk LPs and from 1994 until now across most tracks." comments Ace. "All the hits like Weak, Hedonism etc, you name it. A one off amazing sounding guitar. I chose it from all the shops on Denmark street at the time! This really personifies me and is the most iconic guitar I own from Skunk Anansie."

Featuring a solid Mahogany body with two piece, carved Maple top, one piece Mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard and the iconic 3-a-side headstock. All appointments are suitably high end as is befitting the top of the range model with Pearl inlay work, multi-ply binding throughout and gold-plated hardware. Internally original the guitar has the factory fitted 498T and 490R pickups wired into a quartet of CTS pots, two of which the source code (1379309) is visible, the other two are obscured by solder. Likewise externally the guitar retains it factory hardware with Grover tuners, Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece, black plastics and pickguard. As have many instrument that spend their life on the road this guitar has an old headstock repair and neck re-finish during the process which has obscured part of the serial number. As such part of the serial number is obscured. The neck has a slim C profile with a nut width of 49.92mm, the depth at the first and twelfth fret are 21.23mm and 25.3mm respectively. The Pickups measure 13.07K in the bridge and 8.17 in the neck and the guitar weighs in at a robust 10.8lbs. Unsurprisingly given its history and association with one of the UK’s top alternative rock bands the guitar plays great and sounds superb.

This Les Paul has been played live on many tours, used in many videos and featured in magazines too. We're delighted to offer it for sale along with an exclusive memorabilia package including Ace's Versace leather jacket that was personally given to him by Donatella Versace, and his designer leather trousers worn at award ceremonies.
