Excellent Gibson SG ’61 Reissue from 2006 in a great looking authentic Heritage Cherry finish. A staple of the Gibson lineup since its introduction in 1992 the ’61 Reissue was an evolution of the previous SG-62 model and has rightfully remained in the line up since.

Featuring a solid, bevel edged, double cut away Honduran Mahogany body, one piece Honduras Mahogany neck with a bound 22 fret Indian Rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid position markers. The large open book headstock has the Gibson logo and Crown motif inlayed with Mother of Pearl. The body features the early sixties style ‘Angel Wing’ five-ply pickguard. The Hardware is nickel plated throughout with Grover/Gibson Deluxe Tuners with Keystone buttons, and Nashville Bridge and Stoptail. The period correct reflector knobs and poker chip are black plastic matching the pickup surrounds and three-ply trussrod cover. Pickups are the ever popular Gibson ’57 Classic Humbuckers with Alnico II magnets wired in the traditional Gibson manner with 300K volume pots and 500K tone pots to a 3-way pickup selector.

The guitar is in fantastic condition throughout with no repairs or modifications. The nickel plating has aged naturally and looks great next to the Heritage Cherry nitro-cellulose finish. An original guitar throughout there is very little wear to the frets and the action is comfortably low. The neck has a great feeling slim D profile that measures 20.43mm at the first fret increasing to 22.46 at the twelfth. The nut is the traditional feeling 43.10mm width. The pickups measure 7.59 and 8K in the neck and the bridge and balance nicely.

A lightweight guitar at 6.6lbs it plays well and sounds excellent - all in a killer SG that offers a lot of guitar for the money.
