Superb Gibson Custom Historic ’63 ES-335 Reissue in very clean, original condition with original case and certificate. From the Block inlays to the ‘pinched’ ears the ’63 ES-335 Historic Reissue is an excellent recreation of the incredibly sought after original Gibson produced in the early sixties. Resplendent in a deep Vintage Sunburst finish with a dark figured Rosewood fingerboard the guitar plays great and sounds the part thanks to a pair of Gibson’s ’57 Classic Pickups.
The guitar is in fantastic original condition with no nicks, dings or scratches. Featuring a period correct single bound Thinline body with f-holes and a bound 22 fret Rosewood neck with small block inlays, a feature that Gibson adopted on the ES-335 in 1962 and ran through until 1981. The headstock has a pearl inlayed Crown and modern Gibson logo. Tuners are the double line Gibson Deluxe variety favoured by the Custom Shop during this period. The hardware is Nickel throughout, being a non-VOS guitar the hardware is bright without any artificial patination. The pickguard is the period correct short variety as are the silver reflector knobs. The tailpiece is a lightweight stop bar and the bridge is an ABR-1. Pickup are the ever dependable 57 Classics, vintage voiced PAF like humbuckers wound to Seth Lovers original specs, wired to a traditional Gibson control loom.
The guitar weighs a reasonable 8.4lbs, lighter than some modern reissues we have had in. The neck is a slim to medium C profile with a little extra support on the shoulders. Measurements are 21.62 at the 1st fret filling out to 23.94 at the 12th with a nut width of 42.76mm. Pickups measure 7.7K in the neck position and 7.66 in the bridge. The guitar comes with the photographed Gibson Custom case and certificate.
