Stunning 2007 Gibson Custom ’59 Reissue Les Paul Standard in Gloss Faded Tobacco Burst with a prominent, figured Maple top. The guitar previously belonged to Innes Sibun and was toured and gigged regularly. We sold this guitar little over 5 years ago and it’s a pleasure to have it back.

This is a great example of the ever popular Gibson Custom ’59 Les Paul Standard Reissue, featuring a particularly nice figured maple top with a carve that really shows off the finish and figure. Tight, straight grained Honduran Mahogany body and neck. Dark, played-in Rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays. The neck is a comfortable ’59 profile, slightly larger than the profile Gibson has adopted recently. Inside the neck pickup route you can see the all important long neck tenon. Electronics are stock with Gibson Burstbucker 1 & 2 PAF pickups in the Neck and Bridge respectively, Bumblebee Capacitors and CTS Pots. The Gloss Faded Tobacco finish is in great condition, the instruments was regularly gigged over the years and this guitar has the patination associated with that and in our opinion, it looks all the better for it. Like the originals the back of the guitar has lost the bright band new red look to the mahogany, gently fading to a lighter hue as the aniline dye reacts with UV. There are no nasty marks or surprises to the guitar just evidence of use. If anything, the guitar feels and looks older than its mere 10 years plus and for us that can only be a good thing. The original hardware, like the finish has aged with use. The instrument is still fully functional and serviceable. The single line, single ring Klusons hold tune well. The guitar is currently ‘top-wrapped’ over the tailpiece and ABR-1 and plays well with plenty of life in the frets.

The guitar comes with the original Gibson Custom ‘Lifton’ Hard case, Hang tags and Certificate. This is a great looking, feeling and playing ’59 Reissue from a great period of production for Historic Reissues. The guitar weighs 8.7 lbs, right in the sweet spot for many Les Paul aficionados. Sonically the Burstbucker 1 & 2 pickups really suit this instrument. The bridge pickup has a wonderful woody character and bark and the neck a warm yet defined growl. All in, an excellent ’59 Reissue.
