2003 Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster, Black
Excellent condition, 20 years old Fender Eric Clapton signature Stratocaster from 2003. Packed with features yet unmistakably 50’s in its styling, it is no surprise the guitar has been a staple of the Fender Artist range since the late 80’s and a guitar Eric is happy to put his name to.
Featuring an Alder body with gloss Urethane black finish, a satin Urethane 22 fret Maple neck with a 9.5” radius fingerboard and signature soft ”V” profile. Pickups are Fender Vintage Noiseless Single coil Stratocaster Pickups wired to a 5-way switch with a Master Volume control, Tone 1 is the Master TBX Tone Control with Tone 2 controlling the Active Mid Boost. Hardware is all Vintage inspired in it’s aesthetics with a 6-Saddle American Vintage Tremolo, Single Ply White pickguard and 6-in-Line Kluson style tuners.
In use the guitar plays well and feels like a well made American Stratocaster, the Soft “V” profile neck is very comfortable and the 9.5” radius fingerboard allows the guitar to be set up with a good action without the risk of choking whilst maintaining a comfortable curve to the fingerboard. The Noiseless pickups sound good, maintaining the unmistakable Strat sound with no hum. The TBX control works differently from a traditional tone control, the pot has a notch at at the centre position and works like a normal tone control from zero to the detent. Turning the knob clockwise from the notch adds presence and brightness; turning it counterclockwise from the detent rolls off high frequencies. The mid-boost is perhaps the most popular feature of the Clapton Stratocaster, bringing the control clockwise boosts mid and Bass frequencies up to 25db boost once fully clockwise.
The guitar is in excellent pre-owned condition with only light signs of use to the body and frets. Set up with the factory tremolo block fixed in position with 5 springs installed. The guitar weighs 7.5lbs and comes with its original Tweed case and accessories.
