Description

Very cool and rare Rickenbacker 4001CS Chris Squire Signature Bass. Resplendent in its Cream finish and Limited to 1000 instruments the 4001CS was introduced at the 1991 NAMM show. The basis for the model was the 1964 Rose Morris Rickenbacker 1999 that Squire bought in his late teens.

Best known for his work with the prog-rock supergroup YES, Chris Squire has been considered for many years to be the quintessential rock bass player. As a homage, Rickenbacker teamed up with Squire to replicate and improve upon his legendary “Rick” bass which he had used to make great music with over the last 30 years. The 4001CS features traditional neck through body construction using solid Eastern Rock Maple, a contoured 4001 body, dot inlays, Horseshoe Pickup and Rickenbacker’s famous tailpiece/bridge. The neck was shaped to meet Squire’s specifications and match his original bass. The head stock wings and fingerboard are sculpted from the same piece of solid Vermilion to insure consistency in grain and wood tone.

This Bass is number 604 of the run of 1000 and was manufactured on the 30th January 1996, the bass is completely original and in fantastic condition throughout with no breaks or repairs. Minor points to highlight are a small scratch at the body/neck junction, a ding to the very top of the headstock, and some clouding in the fingerboard lacquer, but overall the bass is in great shape and comes with its original Rickenbacker case and Certificate of Authenticity.
