1974 Gibson ES-335TD in a striking, dark Walnut finish. A great player, lightweight with a pair of strong Pat No. Humbuckers, chrome hardware and a fast feeling slim taper neck.

This guitar is a great example of an early seventies ES-335 and as such has many of the features from this period. A Thinline three series body with short center-block, a three piece Mahogany neck with small volute, Pearl Gibson logo and Crown to the headstock face, a Rosewood fingerboard punctuated with small pearl block markers. The nut and frets are original. Tuners are double line, double ring Kluson Deluxe. The serial number is stamped above the Made in USA Stamp. The Walnut finish option was introduced on the ES-335 in the early 1970s and would quickly go on to outsell the more traditional Cherry and Sunburst finishes over the course of the decade. The original finish is in good condition with a few nicks and marks but nothing to detract from the excellent overall appearance of a played 50 year old guitar. Internally the electronics are original with the exception of one replacement pot. Two strong Pat No Humbuckers sound excellent. The nut and frets are original and the guitar plays well. The factory Chrome hardware is in great condition with no tarnishing to the chrome plating and the 3-ply bevel edged pickguard has resisted warping or curling. The witch hat knobs that are synonymous with this trapeze tailpiece era of 335 production are present. The original tailpiece is the only tailpiece to have been fitted. The chrome ABR-1 is the correct Patent number version used for this era.

The guitar has a great feeling Slim C taper neck profile that really fills out towards the body join. Nut width is 41.14mm and the neck measures 21,.24mm at the 1st fret and 24.80mm at the 12th. A great looking and playing instrument that wants for nothing. Underestimate 3 series guitars from this era at your peril. The guitar sounds excellent; the Pat. No Humbuckers are a consistently great sounding pickups and it has a loud, resonant acoustic ring that translates into a powerful amplified voice.

An excellent 50 year old vintage guitar for brand new ES-335 money.
