Model Overview:

Introduced to the UK market in 1960 as the Verithin (or Model 4574 to the rest of the world) this was Hofner's candidate to take on the thinline electric guitar market. Verithin was an apt name with the fully hollow body measuring only 1 1/4" in thickness. The neck is a three piece maple/beech/maple construction, and a rosewood fingerboard fitted with very cool bold strip design inlays comprised of mock tortoiseshell and mother of pearl. Upon its introduction in 1960, the model featured a pair of "toast rack" style pickups, and the classic rectangular control consul fitted with two volume controls and three sliding pickup/solo-rhythm switches. By the end of 1962 however, the electrics had changed to diamond logo pickups and the four rotary volume and tone controls we see on our 1963 example.

Despite looking like mini-humbuckers these pickups are in fact single coils and have a sweet, dynamic tone all of their own. This is also one of the best playing Verithins we've had in stock and has a factory fitted Bigsby vibrato unit which was an option offered in the UK Selmer catalogue of the time. The guitar has been fitted with an aftermarket bridge and comes with a good quality, fitted modern hardshell case.
