1975 Guild F-30 Aragon, Natural
By Guild
£1,495.00
Charming mid-seventies Guild F-30 Aragon in Natural finish. Known for its sweet and balanced tone the Aragon F-30 was first introduced in 1954 alongside the larger Bluegrass F-40 and Navarre F-50 models. The F-30 was the fledgling companies 15” orchestra sized model and at the time the smallest of Guilds flattop guitars. Initially it had maple back and sides with a spruce top and 25 1/2” scale before dropping to 24 3/4” and changing to mahogany Back and sides in 1959. The guitar was a very popular model for Guild and was a great seller during the acoustic Folk boom of the late-sixties/early-Seventies.
This example dates to 1975 and is in fantastic condition, it features a 15 1/12” wide Spruce and Mahogany body with a Mahogany neck. The fingerboard and bridge are Indian Rosewood. Appointments are elegantly simple with a natural peg head with Guild logo, bound top and back, Mother-of-Pearl position dots punctuate the Rosewood fingerboard and a tortoise Pickguard. Thanks to the longer scale the guitar has great definition wether picked or strummed, there is a surprising level of headroom given the guitars size. There are a great range of tones to be found from warm and mellow to growling and punchy. The guitar has a 42.7mm nut with a medium C profile neck that measures 21.49mm at the 1st fret. The guitar has good fret height with a very playable action with room on the saddle to adjust.
Coming with a Hiscox Case this 1975 Guild F-30 is an excellent alternative to the venerable Martin OM, that wants for nothing, at an excellent price for a near 50 year old handmade American instrument.
