£2,495.00
Very cool Gibson Custom ’57 Les Paul Junior Historic Model in a 50’s Sunburst VOS finish. This one, like many 50’s examples has been hot rodded with the addition of Grover Tuners and a pickup swap to a hot Bare Knuckle Pickups Pig 90 pickup and earlier style speed knobs.
Introduced in 2006 the Gibson Custom Historic '57 Les Paul Junior Reissue features a Mahogany body, rounded '50s neck profile with 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard, a wraparound tailpiece. Simplicity itself with a single dog-ear P90 and single Volume and Tone control very much following the recipe that made original '50s and '60s Juniors such popular guitars both then and now.
The finish is in excellent condition with the only notable wear an area of light worming to the rear upper bout. Frets are original, show little wear and play well. The fingerboard is a particularly dark piece of Rosewood. The neck is classified by Gibson as an early ‘50s rounded profile with with a measurements at the 1st fret of 23.48mm increasing to 26.12mm at the 12th fret, the nut width is 42.7mm. The Bare Knuckle Pig 90 is an unashamedly powerful pickup with a DC reading of 21.1K. A P90 version of the companies popular Warpig humbucker, it has a pair of custom size Alnico V bar magnets and scatter-wound coils of 45 AWG wire. The volume pot is a Seymour Duncan replacement.
Weighing in at 8.9 lbs the guitar has a loud, sustaining acoustic ring and amplified this is one of the more powerful Juniors we have had the pleasure of playing thanks in part to the upgraded P90. Just like its original ‘50s compatriots it does the Junior thing with aplomb, big, bold and punchy but will clean up to an almost acoustic like tone with the extremely interactive controls. The Pig 90 is described as having a deep, rich bottom-end, throaty mids and sweet highs... all attributes we can’t argue with.
The guitar comes with its original Gibson Custom case, hang tags and owners manual. The original P-90 pickup, tuners and bonnet knobs are all included.
