Excellent condition Gibson ES-175 from the mid-nineties with a beautifully figured Maple top and evocative Vintage Sunburst finish. The mid-nineties has become known as the good-wood era for Gibson and saw the company producing some of its finest guitars for years using great tone woods with tighter quality control and more of a view to traditional specs in their historic models. This guitar is completely stock, has minimal play wear and and comes with its original brown Gibson case.
Gibson produced the ES-175 from 1949 to 2017, when it held the title of the longest production electric guitar. It has seen some spec changes over the years but at the model's heart it was always seen as the working guitarist's Gibson. Featuring a laminate Maple 16" wide and 3½” deep body, a 24¾" scale Mahogany neck with 20 frets, joined to the body at the 14th fret, a bound Rosewood fingerboard with Pearl Parallelogram markers. One or two pickups were available until 1971 (the ES-175 was initially offered with a single neck position P-90 pickup with a dual pickup version offered from 1953 onwards). Hardware would includes the synonymous ES-175 Zigzag trapeze tailpiece from 1957.
This guitar has a particularly attractively figured Maple top, it features the tried and tested Maple body with Mahogany neck and Rosewood fingerboard. The twin Humbuckers are the stock Gibson ’57 Classics. Hardware is Nickel plated throughout and finished with a black 5-ply pickguard and black bonnet knobs. Tuners are Gibson Deluxe with Keystone buttons. The width at the nut is 42.89mm with a 1st fret depth of 21.43mm. The neck profile is a comfortable Medium C.
Currently set up with Flatwound strings the guitar plays well with a good acoustic voice and is well balanced amplified thanks to the popular ’57 Classic pickups. All in all a fantastic instrument in excellent condition.
