Model Overview:

The Gibson LG range of guitars was initially released in 1942 as a trio of models, the LG-1, LG-2 and LG-3. Very few instruments were shipped before production at Gibson was streamlined during the American involvement in World War II leaving the LG-2 as the sole model to receive the äóÖbanneräó» headstock treatment.

Post-war as production and model numbers increased again, the LG proved to be quite a success for Gibson with each model having its own features but all sharing the same 14 1/4 äóì size. The LG-1 would feature a ladder braced spruce top with Sunburst finish with the LG-2 having the same Sunburst but an X-braced spruce top and finally the X-braced LG-3 would have a natural top. In 1958 the LG-0 would join the range with its full mahogany body and ladder braced top. Such was its popularity the LG-1 would remain in sparse production until 1974 despite being discontinued in 1968.

Our LG-1 features an incredibly striking spruce top highlighted by its Sunburst Nitrocellulose finish, is 14 Œ_äówide and 19äó long with a 14 fret body join, a mahogany neck with 20 frets in the rosewood fingerboard and a ladder braced select spruce top with Honduran mahogany back and rims. It sounds as sweet as youäó»d expect and the way the light catches the Sunburst spruce top is stunning. The guitar is in overall excellent condition and comes with its pictured original Alligator Case.
