Released in 1954 as a second attempt by Gibson at producing an electrified flattop after the earlier smaller bodied CF-100E failed to take off, the J-160E had the more conventional look of the popular J-45 and Southern Jumbo models and quickly went on to outsell its predecessor. Closely associated with The Beatles, both John Lennon and George Harrison frequently used them on stage and in the studio.

Our example of the iconic Gibson J-160E originates from 1963 and is in well-played but great condition. This particular guitar was made in late '63 and has a serial number only 90 away from Lennon's famous '64 instrument. Some amazing tones are possible from this flattop, both plugged in and acoustically. The guitar comes with an aftermarket hardshell case.
