Description

New arrival. A stunning, rare Gibson Super Jumbo 200 c.1940. Beautifully figured Rosewood back and sides, Spruce top, figured Maple neck, double X-braced 17-inch body, bound Ebony pointed fingerboard and Grover imperial tuners. A beautiful looking and sounding instrument and a very rare example of a top of the line pre-war Gibson flat top.

This example has had some work done during its life, namely a refinished top, changed bridge and pickguard. There's also a cleated centreseam crack and glue residue visible internally, but the quality of the repairs and refinish is very good. The FON is missing and the strap loop normally present on the rear of the headstock on these early examples has been replaced with a small brass number plate. The sunburst finish is more in keeping with later examples as is the Rosewood bridge and pickguard.

A model rarely seen in the market, this is one of 66 made between 1938-1940. Complete with the correct airline tweed Geib hard case.
