Superb 2021 Gibson Custom Marcus King Signature 1962 ES-345 in fantastic condition throughout. Released only a couple of years ago in limited numbers and selling out almost immediately it is a painstakingly accurate replica of King’s own 1962 ES-345 a guitar that has been in the Family for generations, passed down to him through his Father and Grandfather.

One of only 50 guitars produced the Marcus King ES-345 has been recreated by the talented guys and girls in the Gibson Custom Shop after analysing every detail to deliver an accurate and authentic recreation of this awesome and rare original sixties guitar. Featuring a traditional 3-Ply Maple/Poplar/Maple traditional construction. Finished in a strong '60s cherry Nitrocellulose lacquer with Gibson's VOS finish giving the guitar the perfect broken-in vintage patina. The Mahogany neck has a classic, dark Indian Rosewood fretboard punctuated with the traditional ES-345 split-parallelogram inlays. The fingerboard has 22 medium jumbo frets, a 12" radius, and 24.75" scale length. Pickups are a great sounding pair of Gibson CustomBuckers wired in traditional ES-345 fashion to a 6-position mono Varitone switch alongside 500K CTS Audio-Taper Potentiometers, Black Cat Capacitors. Uniquely the Hand-Wired Harness has a single Mono Output rather than the standard ES-345 Stereo type. Such is the commitment of the Custom Shop to replicate the historical accuracy and playing experience of the original guitar it comes fitted with a rare Sideways Vibrola tailpiece, just as the guitar had in ’62 when King’s Grandfather purchased it. The Gold plated hardware comprises Grover ‘Milk Bottle’ Rotomatic tuners and an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge. Plastics include an accurate “Custom Made” plaque covering the Stoptail bushings a wide bevel, short 3-ply pickguard and an engraved “Stereo" truss rod cover.

The guitar is in fantastic, barely played condition throughout with no noticeable wear to the gently patinated VOS finish. The fingerboard is clean and the frets likewise show no noticeable wear. The guitar feels fantastic in the hands, construction and finishing are excellent with the reassuring weight adding to the regal feel of the guitar. The neck has an authentic ’62 profile, with a medium depth and a C profile with enough shouldered to be supportive. The nut measures 42.84mm wide and the neck has a depth at the first fret of 21.25 increasing to 23.09 at the 12th fret. The CustomBucker pickups measure 7.88K and 7.82K in the neck and bridge and offer great sounding 3-series tones with the addition of the Varitone bringing additional versatility.

A sure fire hit not only for Marcus King fans but also those looking for an authentic, vintage inspired ES-345 with this rare spec. Limited to only 50 worldwide, the guitar comes housed in a custom ES style case, Certificate of Authenticity and hand-carved, hand-cast and hand-finished Marcus King belt buckle by Maker and Smith.
