Stunning R9 figured top Les Paul Standard in a very attractive faded heritage cherry sunburst finish.

At the time of manufacture these were as close as you could get to the real deal with Gibson paying more attention than ever before to historical accuracy. This included a more realistic "dish" to the top, more accurate binding, body, headstock and neck shape, knob placement and a more accurate sunburst finish. They were loaded with Gibson's '57 Classic PAF pickups which give a vintage voiced, airy, balanced tone and excellent clarity.

There's debate over the "Anniversary" status of the reissue models from this year as Gibson produced some R9's with certificates and some without despite being in essence the same model. Some came with reissue brown cases and a copy of Beauty of the Burst, and a limited number were also aged by Tom Murphy's company "Guitar Preservation" at the time. This particular example comes with it's original black Custom, Art & Historic Gibson case and hang tag stamped LPR-9F where the "F" stands for flame... and as you can see in the photos it has a stunning tight flame Maple top!

The neck is a fairly chunky C profile and it has a standard 1, 11/16th nut width. The fingerboard is an incredibly dark cut of Rosewood, that of the quality you struggle to see in recent years. The body is a single piece of mahogany, as is the neck, and the guitar weighs in at a very comfortable 8.6lbs.

A stunning, rare, collectable model, a fine instrument and an excellent investment!
