Superb player grade pre-CBS Strat refinished in Sonic Blue. A really cool looking guitar and an excellent player.

There are a couple of changes to the guitar's originality making it a much more attainable prospect for someone looking for a pre-CBS Custom Colour Fender on a budget. Besides the refinish to the body and some evidence of previous overspray to the neck (most of which is worn away) other non-original aspects include rewound pickups, non-original solder joints on the volume pot and superficial tarnishing to some of the components under the hood most probably due to exposure to moisture.

The guitar retains its original Kluson single line tuners, original headstock decal and headstock finish, original plastics and hardware (besides some changed screws.) The fingerboard is a stunning dark Rosewood with original clay dot inlays. Neck dates to August '63 in-keeping with the original Stackpole pots dating to late '63.

It's been refretted and currently plays amazingly well. The neck is perfectly worn in and the profile is a typical medium C. The overall feel is responsive and lively, and the pickups can get you anywhere from a classic raspy/throaty growl and searing top end to more mellow, woody clean tones when backing off the gain.

Comes in a period Selmer hard shell case very likely to have been sold with the guitar when new. Also included is the original hang tag along with the original purchase receipt from J.F. Sutton, Queen Street, Salisbury, which was a well established vinyl, sheet music and musical instrument shop at the time.
