Lovely, clean and original Rickenbacker 4001 in Mapleglo finish. Internally and externally original, the serial number dates this 4001 to May 1979.

Released in the early 60’s the 4001 was the double pickup evolution of the late 50’s, single pickup model 4000, one of the earliest electric basses on the market. The now iconic cresting wave silhouette of the 4001 is an instantly recognisable sight, often found in the in the hands of Paul McCartney, John Entwistle and Chris Squire. Famously produced from Maple and Walnut with through-neck construction the 4001 has Deluxe appointments with a bound body and neck with triangle fingerboard inlays.

Externally the basses original finish is in great condition with the Mapleglo finish perfectly allowing some nice wood grain to show. Internally the guitar is very tidy with no repairs of modifications, the loom is neat with a matched set of CTS pots dating to 1978 and both pickups are as they left the factory. The hardware is bright throughout with little tarnishing. Frets are in great shape with very little wear. Freshly set up, the truss rod operates as intended and the neck is straight. Weighing in at a hair over 9.5lbs a good weight for a late seventies Rickenbacker Bass.

The bass come with a gig-bag but will be packed securely for shipping.
