Very cool, played 1978 Rickenbacker 4001 in a white finish with black plastics and appointments. Released in the early 60’s the 4001 was the double pickup evolution of the single pickup model 4000, one of the earliest electric basses on the market. The now iconic cresting wave silhouette of the 4001 is an instantly recognisable sight, often found in the in the hands of Paul McCartney, John Entwistle and Chris Squire. Famously produced from Maple and Walnut with through-neck construction the 4001 has Deluxe appointments with a bound body and neck with triangle fingerboard inlays.
The bass is in really nice overall condition, the finish is good with a few general signs of use and has aged and yellowed in places and ike most white guitars and basses it looks all the better for it. The serial number dates this 4001 to October 1978. Internally the guitar is very tidy with no repairs of modifications. The hardware is for the most part in good condition, on arrival some of the hardware had dulled but with a quick polish and detail the bass now looks great. Internally and externally original, pickups are and pots are correct with the CTS pots sharing a matched source code of 137 7821. The input plate has tarnished the most so the full serial number has become obscured. The frets are in great shape, polished with little wear.
