Fantastic Wine Red example of the top of the range Gibson 3-Series guitar. Introduced in 1958 as a high end counterpart to the ES-335, the ES-355 TD features an ebony fingerboard with block inlays, gold hardware and multiple binding to the body and tortoiseshell pickguard. Other appointments include, a 5-piece split-diamond peghead inlay and a TP-6 tailpiece on our ’81 example (as opposed to the standard vibrato tailpiece).
In 1959, Gibson added the ES-355 TDSV to the range which included the Varitone switch of the ES-345 and stereo outputs. This final incarnation of this model was also offered in Antique Sunburst and Walnut. Our Wine Red example from 1981 is all original except for one mod; a conversion from stereo wiring to mono. The guitar is in great condition and comes with its original Gibson hard case and hang tags.
