The Martin 0-16 NY echoes Martins early ‘New York’ guitars, simple and stripped back but with absolutely no compromise in sound. This model’s small body and big voice made it a favourite of folk artists Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell in the sixties.
With a 12 fret body join, slotted headstock and a small 13.5in 0 style body, the guitar is incredibly comfortable on the lap or strap. The guitar features a mahogany neck, back and sides with an Indian rosewood fingerboard and straight bar bridge. The Sitka spruce top is very lightly braced; Martin intended the guitars to be used with either super light Steel or Nylon strings. A set of D’Addario Silk and Steels would work perfectly. The neck is nice and wide at 1 7/8 in and the string spacing at the bridge is 2 1/4 in.
As well as Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, Ian Anderson used the 0-16NY on various Jethro Tull albums. Ian Anderson himself has signed this particular guitar.
This is a great playing small-bodied Martin in great condition as well as being of interest for Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull fans.
The guitar comes with its original light Martin case.
