1968 Gibson Hummingbird. Serial number dated to 1968 and fantastically clean in its original 60’s Gibson Cherry Sunburst. Amazing condition for a near 50-year-old acoustic, no fading and minimal checking. A little fret wear but no gouges on the rosewood fret board.
Behind the flagship J200, Hummingbirds were the second most expensive model available. 1968 is the last year of manufacture before the bracing changes to a much chunkier style. This one has the typical later 60’s nut width but doesn’t feel at all cramped unlike other examples can. And I still think the split parallelogram inlays look the best. Sound wise it’s like a great square shoulder dreadnought with a bit more growl. Comes with the guitars original late 60’s Gibson hard case.
