Superb Martin OM-28V from 2008 in fantastic clean and original condition. The OM has always been a strong seller for Martin thanks to its mid-sized Auditorium body combined with the longer 25.4 scale length found on the companies Dreadnought models with the Style 28 tracing its origin back to the 1870’s.

Part of the now discontinued Vintage Series that ran from 1996 to 2013 the OM-28 offered a perfect blend of traditional appointments and Vintage styling with contemporary construction the OM-28 features a tight grained, high grade Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides with a mahogany neck topped with an Ebony Fingerboard. Appointments are pure Style 28 with Heringbone trim, snowflake inlays and diamond Volute. Internally it features a scalloped X braced top, maple bridge plate and kerfed lining. The ebony vintage style bridge has the long saddle. Tuners are Open backed, nickel plated with butterbean knobs and the pickguard is the small teardrop tortoise style used on OM models. The neck has Martin's Modified V profile with a 1-3/4” nut width with string spacing at the bridge of 2-5/16’’.

This guitar is a particularly nice example with a Sitka top with good level of silking and a pleasantly figured Rosewood back and sides set. Condition throughout is great with very little wear.  The guitar has had the endpin opened for a pickup jack but has no pickup fitted. Playability is great with a medium action, a string height at the 12th fret of 2.75mm with plenty of adjustment on the saddle. Lightly played and nicely opened up this guitar highlights tonally why OM model Martins are so popular, the Bass has a warm rounded quality that balances perfectly with the bell like top end clarity and definition. The replacement model for the Vintage series OM-28 continues to have the fingerstyle friendly 1-3/4” nut width but with a more restrictive string spacing at the bridge of 2 5/32”. It has a modern style drop in bridge saddle and the neck has Martin’s Modified Low oval profile. The guitar comes safely housed in its original pictured Martin Case.
